DRC – Scoping and Design of Strategic Investment Opportunities RYSE Project Jordan (2021)

Community Development

The Resilient Youth Socially and Economically Empowered (RYSE) project is an ambitious attempt to incrementally develop and mobilize a dynamic, powerful, multi-stakeholder initiative/eco-system focusing on empowering at least 25,000 displaced and conflict-affected Syrian youth (18-30) to become the much-needed positive change agents in a region marred by war and political instability. Al Jidara, in collaboration with the Danish Refugee Council (DRC) as part of the RYSE project, developed innovative investment and financing approaches for the empowerment of Syrian refugee and Jordanian youth. Al Jidara was responsible for mapping out the ecosystem, conducting extensive primary and secondary research, and undertaking a detailed study of key stakeholders to understand challenges and opportunities in the financing landscape.

Al Jidara successfully designed varied financing and investment approaches, leveraging debt, grant, and equity-based instruments, which were refined through co-creation workshops with stakeholders. Their support extended to a thorough review of the project's labor market assessment, collecting relevant market studies, and identifying strategic investment opportunities. Additionally, they conducted stakeholder mapping and outreach, mobilized strategic partners, and assessed the relevance of different financing opportunities, with a specific focus on scoping opportunities for a Refugee Investment Fund. Al Jidara's also conducted a detailed private sector analysis, validation of investment strategies, and developed a comprehensive database of potential investments.
