USAID – Community Engagement Project (CEP) (2013 – 2016)

CEP was designed to strengthen Jordanian community organizations and local government efforts to meet local needs in three governorates: Irbid, Mafraq and Tafileh. CEP brought together community members, non-governmental and community-based organizations, and local government to jointly identify and implement activities that improve quality of life within their communities. CEP established and supported volunteer groups representing all community members in these areas, including women, youth, government, business, tribal, and religious leaders. Al Jidara played a pivotal role in the Community Empowerment Project (CEP), designed to enhance the capabilities of Jordanian community organizations and local government in the governorates of Irbid, Mafraq, and Tafileh. Serving as a leader in capacity building, Al Jidara orchestrated comprehensive training programs, established partnerships with Jordanian training institutions, assessed local organizations, and provided one-on-one mentoring.
The program aimed to strengthen community ties by fostering collaboration among community members, non-governmental organizations, and local government entities. Al Jidara took charge of program coordination efforts in Irbid, Mafraq, and Tafileh, engaging with NGOs and local government officials at both the governorate and municipal levels. Additionally, Al Jidara led gender integration activities, ensuring the mainstreaming of gender issues across program components. This involved promoting gender-sensitive content in training modules and certificate curricula, training a diverse cadre of male and female trainers, and actively involving women from various sectors in capacity-building activities. Al Jidara also supported the establishment of a gender-segregated database, providing crucial information on resource access, knowledge, power relations, and the roles of men and women in each community. Through these efforts, Al Jidara significantly contributed to fostering inclusive community development and gender mainstreaming in the CEP.
