Economic Development

Al Jidara played a central role as the main local consortium member in USAID/Jordan's SABEQ program, leading various components and cross-cutting areas with a strong emphasis on workforce development, institutional transformation, local economic development, expanded trade and investment, access to finance, enabling business environment, M&E, and enhanced productivity. The Enabling Environment efforts were a key focus, where Al Jidara successfully reduced public sector constraints to promote private sector growth, particularly through regulatory environment improvements and enhancements in the policies, procedures, and capacity of public sector entities. Al Jidara's contributions to Trade and Investment promotion initiatives were significant, and the establishment and operations support provided to entities like the Development and Free Zones Commission, Jordan Investment Board, Jordan Industrial Estate Corporation, and the Ministry of Industry and Trade were instrumental.

In the realm of Local Economic Development (LED), Al Jidara spearheaded efforts in the governorates of Irbid and Karak, collaborating with local communities, development councils, NGOs, associations, and chambers to design and implement interventions supporting program objectives. Notable achievements include supporting the Special Projects Unit of Greater Amman Municipality in developing an investor-friendly building permitting process, establishing the Irbid Facilitation Center, implementing a small-scale "Regulatory Guillotine," and setting up the Irbid Public Private Forum on Regulatory Simplification. Al Jidara's comprehensive inventory of government and non-government services in Irbid and the establishment of the Smart Tape Center showcased a commitment to simplifying regulatory processes. Furthermore, the gender analysis and planning workshop conducted by Al Jidara underscored its dedication to inclusivity and community engagement in the municipalities involved in the project. Overall, Al Jidara demonstrated extensive sector experience, successfully aligning its efforts with the program's pillars to drive impactful economic and regulatory improvements.
