USAID – Takamol Jordan Gender Program (2014 – 2020)

Gender Empowerment

Al Jidara provided expertise with a focus on capacity building of local organizations, raising awareness and promoting attitude-shifting dialogue on gender equality. Specifically, Al Jidara built the local ownership and supported the establishment of two main project advisory panels: the Experts Committee and the Community Advisors. Al Jidara worked with JNCW management by conducting an overall revision of the existing HR system and to develop an improved HR manual and policies, through providing training, mentoring and coaching sessions. Additionally, Al Jidara expanded existing partnerships and built new ones with local and national stakeholders including civil society organizations, Government of Jordan (GOJ) institutions, universities, think tanks, community leaders, and other USAID implementing partners.

Al Jidara Led the Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) component by developing an M&E plan and the impact/outcome assessment methodology for two national surveys. Al Jidara developed data collection tools, reported on the USAID Intermediate Results-level indicators and conducted a workshop for USAID and Implementing Partners (IPs) on the measurement of knowledge and perception indicators relevant to gender equity. Al Jidara also developed and delivered training on results-based management to government counterparts. A significant milestone was reached when the Ministry of Public Sector Development (MoPSD) approved the new Gender Focal point job description developed jointly by USAID Takamol, the Jordanian National Commission for Women (JNCW), and the Civil Service Bureau which was adopted across all governmental ministries and institutions.
